Virgin - new contract on moving? Before I sign up

Options
Hi

Last weekend (sat) I signed up over tel for Virgins 18 month contract in the big kahuna exclusive 50 deal as over the 18 months it's way cheaper than sky can offer.

Yesterday I received the contract stating I had 7 days from order placed to cancel, meaning I have until tomorrow.

In the T and Cs it states if you move you start a new minimum term contract at your new address. This interests me as our house is on the market, but has been for 10 months so who knows when it will sell.

I called Virgin and spoke to Aaron and asked what happens to my pricing and what is the new minimum contract. He advised there is no new contract, the existing contract would transfer over and the pricing and term stay as my original agreement. I asked if he was sure as this seems at odds with the t & Cs. He went to check with his supervisor and came back to confirm there would be no changes, no new contract and no new minimum period. The existing contract would transfer. He even said he has worked at Virgin for a long time and knows this is correct.

Any advice? I really don't want to get burnt here and I have today to get it resolved! Thanks in advance

  • I don't think you should have entered into an eighteen month contract if you are currently selling your house. If and when you move, you'll have to be moving to an area where Virgin cable is available.
  • Thanks. I understand that. The coverage from virgin I'd good here and the area we are moving to is covered ( already checked) and we accept that risk. It's more the new contract on moving I'm trying to get to the bottom of.

9 months ago we didn't take an offer for the reason you state and we are still here so can't keep putting everything in hold indefinitely.

Does anyone have experience if moving within min period of original contract and how was it handled?

I'm not sure why your bothered if you start a new contract with virgin at your new address? Is it because you are worried you will have to pay the remaining contract?

As stated, it more of a worry if your new house doesn't have virgin
