Chuck 'em in the freezer until you go back in.

Was about to cook my kipper breakfast this morning, when I noticed the label saying "Tuna" and £4.
I bought a pair of kippers and it looks like the wrong label has been applied.
I rang Asda this morning and they told me to return item together with receipt.
This is okay but only problem is it is 4 miles away.
What can I expect in return?
Hopefully they will give you the excellent advice of checking your receipts while still in the store.

Can you not add up the prices of everything as you go around the shop? That way you will notice if their total price doesn't match yours, and be able to fix it immediately. In this particular case, this would have involved looking at the price of the item you bought before buying it and embarking on your 4-mile journey.

Would love to be able to walk (period).

Now all we need is a recently deceased relative and a screw up by the benefits agency to get the 'woe is me' trifecta :D

I don't think that they do, actually.

Just like not everyone researches to get the bank account with the highest interest rate, or reviews their utility providers to get the best deals.

In fact, many people come to these forums completely oblivious to the idea that you can switch bank accounts and earn more money on your savings, or change utility providers and save hundreds each year, or add up the cost of your shopping as you go around the store so that you'll know how much you're expecting to pay when you reach the checkout and can avoid overpaying for your groceries.

If you did buy them on the counter, as suggested above, the would have told you the price before handing them to you. Did you not think that £4.00 seemed like an awful lot for kippers at the time?

Tesco sell 0.8kg kippers for £4, so not really an inconceivable sum to pay for kippers

If OP had bought Tuna and paid a Kipper price would he have sent ASDA the difference ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

That's a whole lot of kippers though.

Asda sell kippers for £4.98 per Kilo, tuna is £30 per kilo, I think most people would notice if they were told their one kipper was £4, almost a kilo.
