To pay or not to pay...Brittania parking

sorry if this is the wrong forum. I used the template letter challenging parking fine but have had a reply saying that as I live in Scotland the letter is invalid. They still want payment. Can someone please tell me how to proceed? They want £ 50 in 14 days or £85 if longer.

Why did you appeal at all, when you were in Scotland? Which template did you send and did you admit who was driving?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

And in the meantime, to answer your question in the thread title, NOT to pay. It's only Britannia for goodness' sake, my puddycat is scarier than them.
    Je suis Charlie.
  • I used the template from the post ( which I now realise was for England and Wales). Their reply said that my appeal is invalid as the' POFA 2012 is not applicable in Scotland' I had challenged their signage and they said it was within BPA guidelines.
As a matter of fact I was a passenger in the car at the time but I don't know if this is relevantI(I didn't mention this in the original letter)
Should I just ignore this new letter which gives me 14 days to pay.

Yes of course ignore their letters (but keep them). They've said themselves the POFA does not apply - guess what that means? No keeper liability in Scotland.

...and the people who rush through the Newbies thread, or simply don't bother with it, looking for an instant fix. With due respect to the OP.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
  • When feeling pressurised with a seemingly legal letter, searching for answers....and trying to sift through the many posts...I can assure you it was not a matter of 'rushing through' but pure panic at the thought of possible consequences and actually finding it quite difficult to sift through all the posts to find ones which were appropriate and accurate.
Thank you to everyone who gave me advice. I will ignore the latest letter from them and hopefully hear no more. ( Though I did read on another post that they have run test cases in Dundee)
Any other advice will be gratefully received. :-)

Not Britannia. Another company has tried a handful there and has abandoned them when they were defended.

  • Should I just sit tight then and ignore any farther correspondance from them?
