Normally you put the spare on and get it replaced asap. Driving with illegal tyres is not advisable.0

It might not be illegal depending on the damage to the tyre. Either way, spare on and a new tyre would be advisable. A repair may be possible.0

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the replies. No I didn't have a spare (rather irresponsibly) but filled it up at my local petrol station and then drove to the nearest quick fit. All turned out ok in the end.
