abusive email from towertimes (altontowers guide website) anyone else had one??

The website isn't run by alton towers I don't think. I joined that site from a link on this site but I have never used their forum only the main site. It's disgusting how they can email people like that.

the southparks.org links to a website about thorpe park and chessington world of adventures. I'm guessing this was a disgruntled ex employee sending this message before he left for this other site maybe? strangely though the second site is about other attractions in the Tussauds group like Alton Towers

Towers Times isn't run by Alton Towers, it was created as a fan site. Could be possible the site was hacked, I know it has happened before.

Just checked my emails and I have got one too from there, although saying that I didn't bother logging into the site for some time because of abusive private messages.

Some Alton Towers staff members did post on there and were moderators, who knows what happened.

Site might not have even been hacked, could be some script kiddie spoofing the email address

My guess it was an employee getting his bit of fun the minute before he left. I would complain to the company it came from and hope for some freebies.

It is just run by fans, I am guessing its someone hacking an admin account or something like that. But I did not get one where as my GF did.

I am sure it is just a once off.

Just had a look on their website and this is in the forums.

Unfortunately one of the sites Administrator accounts was infiltrated. Server logs have been taken by the appropriate authorities and they are investigating the matter as computer crime is now actually viewed as a form of terrorism.
All systems back to normal again, although we have lost all posts from earlier today. Nothing to worry about."

"Yeah don't worry - no private info of your accounts was taken. Passwords are encrypted and all that.
And we are taking it very seriously, just no need to cause a huge public outrage really."

Dear Towerstimes Member,



Please may we apologise for the email that was sent earlier this evening. As you are probably aware, a hacker was able to access the TowersTimes Forum control panel this evening and various team members and topics were deleted.



The team has worked to make the site secure and it has been restored losing less than one day's worth of posts.



No attempt to cause problems with the forum will be tolerated and this is being dealt with in an appropriate manner.



TowersTimes Forum, at the end of the day, is all about Alton Towers and, more importantly, enjoying it. Rest assured, the minority will not ruin things for the rest for us.



Please note that https://www.southparks.org had no involvement with the incident and TTF has a good working relationship with this fellow fan site.



If you've been inactive for some time, these emails may have alerted you to the site once more - we'd be delighted to welcome you back.
