House devolper still has keys to house

I'm really upset.
Only moved in last week
We were told at hand over keys time that all the front doors of the properties need replacement.
Ok well that should of been done before.
Problem being the doors are all warped and don't fit.
I locked the door yesterday and went out. Drove back and see the front door wide open!! The lock was still on its locked position ( had the bar still out )
I called and complained and was told too late in the day now someone will be out Monday. Oh don't worry if you are not home we have a key!!!!
Please tell me this is wrong?!?
I mean we have already had a booster box and sky leads stolen from our home since it was built (three other houses on estate had the same so the workman told me )
I can't leave the house. I have indoor cats and these can't be let out as they are all blind!!

Get a locksmith over the change the locks ASAP. Or just do it yourself. Modern doors have standard euro locks you can change with a screwdriver, look for videos on youtube and head down to B&Q/Wickes/WilkinsonsChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Hmm I think I would be tempted to change the locks too, for peace of mind really! Not sure if this is rented or you have bought and if that would alter your options, good luck sorting this!

You mean you moved ino a new property, with no idea how many people, and who, still had keys, and did not change the locks?
Why on earth not....?0 -
... all with cheap locks, builders will have had/lost keys, neighbours locks all of identical type, chances of keys working in other locks massively increased...
I would change the lock in any case.0 -

Interested in this comment, so what you are saying is if across a new housing estate all the front door locks are say Yale then potentially one resident could open up another residents front door? Is that what you are saying?0 -
Cheap locks have fewer key variations than more expensive ones, so there is the potential for one key to fit (an)other door lock(s).0

Jeez. If anyone wants to break into your house they'll just go through a window.

There's a cheap Yale rip off, sold by one of the DIY sheds, with a total of around 255 key variations. That's not that many for a big estate using some similar rubbish. Why should they care? Before they sell 'em, there's nowt to nick.
Why would you put your tens of thousands of pounds worth of property, your hundreds of thousands pounds worth of house, your two small kids, and even your cat locked safely behind a secure door.... where you have no idea where all the keys are?0
