I love my CC. I find it works best at 60mph in the middle lane of any UK motorway!

Wrong, Just wrong... Middle lane is 50mph MAX!!! Do get it right :j

What is the CC mind set that you are talking about? I don't recognise it, I don't drive any differently with CC on and I still anticipate and read the road as much as I do without the CC on.

I was referring to the disinclination I believe exists to modify speed as much with CC engaged as with regular driving, due to the need to make a decision to modify/disengage CC to do so, rather than adjusting pressure on the accelerator with a foot already on the control. Some people will be more susceptible to this than others but I suspect most, if they are completely honest, are to a degree.

Your argument doesn't take into account the usual processes of anticipation and forward observation.

I was writing in the context of a genuine emergency stop where anticipation does not come into play. Yes the better driver you are the more you can reduce the chances of these situations but they can never be eliminated. Please let's not get into a discussion about examples of such situations.

Let me stress that I do not have a major issue regarding CC, or some sort of personal campaign to have its use banned. I have merely written what I have to justify my original statement re. safety that was challenged. I do not view using CC as dangerous, but I do think it is less safe than regular driving. I am not trying to convince anyone to stop using it, or even to agree with me though.
