Ticket from smart parking ltd

Hi my father got a £90 ticket from smart parking 3 days ago in a car park up in Inverness, Scotland.
He has 1 leg and is wheelchair bound and because the 4 disabled spaces were all occupied he parked in a normal space with his badge on show but was issued the ticket and the guy said he should have bought a normal ticket as he wasn't in a disabled bay. I have read many posts on here saying just to ignore tickets from this company, is this still the case? thanks

  • You can ignore in Scotland.
  • You can ignore Smart in England too as they do not do litigation, however! It's best to wrote to them and ask them to justify the charge as a pre estimate of loss and as for a copy of their contract with the landlord. Let them know that you will not pay unless a county court demands it. That should send them packing

I hope you haven't just been Googling & reading old threads, when everyone used to say 'ignore'?

Search this forum (NOT the whole MSE forums!) for 'Scotland' as a keyword, and read the Newbies thread at the top which you appear to have overlooked. Use the Forum Jump to get back to page one where you will see the Newbies thread near the top, and 'search this forum' as a little heading above the stickies, on the right next to 'Forum tools'. Put 'Scotland' in and change the default search to 'show posts'.

Then get bored reading how many people have discussed ignoring these in Scotland. Yes, ignore IS still the advice North of the Border. But forum advice changes, it's fluid and we react to what happens - recently a few PPCs have tried and failed a court claim (not Smart). Please don't read old threads when researching stuff. Things are different in England & Wales of course.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
