We've all been managing to wash successfully in a small amount of water each every morning, and us girlies wash our hair every few days with a strict rotation of shared water going from one to the other. Shampoo-water>1st rinse>2nd rinse with a dash of vinegar to get rid of any lingering shampoo (old-fashioned method).

I went to a boarding school back in the very early 70s where we had to strip-wash in small hand basin every morning and only had 1 bath per week, so it was all good training for times like this.... or for camping trips :D.

Just caught a lot of rainwater in a 'tarpaulin' (old shower curtain actually ;)) funnel we rigged in the heavy rain so that will help. We got soaked while rigging it, but it was worth it.

tru, are you able to get out of your area, or are you cut off??

We haven't been cut off, a couple of the major roads in and out were flooded but apart from that we can get pretty much anywhere.

That's criminals though. They're not clever, they just trample on trust. They don't see it like that though; it's just opportunities to take things.

We have no tap water, but we collected lots of rain water in every kind of bucket and container we could find in a downpour yesterday so that we can use it to flush the loo. We have bought bottled water and were given some by the police at Sainsbury's. We had an army tanker near by yesterday with solders who were filling up bottles and buckets. After hearing stories of yobs peeing in the bowsers I am decidedly worried for everyone's health. I am sure many people will end up with bad stomachs.

It is surprising how many times you can use the same water if you try (wash veg, then wash up dishes, then flush the loo) May be can have an MSE challenge to see how many times we can use the same water

I know MSErs always like their challenges !!:p

I seriously think that there should be someone armed with a shotgun stationed at every bowser waffen_015.gif

my house looks like a scene of devastation :o the rottweiler has been in n out of the garden and brought it all back in with him, the kitchen floor is thick with dirt  i am having to save up my washing up and do it in 1 big load so yesterdays tea dishes are still languishing :o i have a mountain of clothes washing, the toilet...well i wont even try to explain
i hope they manage to sort the water out quickly, they say it might be another week or so yet but some might have water for washing (not drinking) by tuesdayish.
i hope everybody else out there is ok, the community around here have all been pulling together which is really nice to see
