ESA first payment date question

Hi,
I recently made a claim for Employment and Support Allowance. Today I received a letter (dated November 13th) informing me "I am pleased to tell you we can pay ESA from 11 November 2014".
It later says: "We cannot pay ESA for the first seven days of your claim" and "The money will be paid every two weeks for as long as you are entitled to ESA".
At the end of the letter it says: "So your income-related entitlement is £72.40. The amounts on this page apply from 20 November 2014".
Based on the above information, when should I expect the first payment and for how much will it be? My NI number ends in 29.
Thanks a lot for any help.

Are you claiming from 4th November? If you are, then you will be paid from the 11th. Unless there is something you are not telling us that would mean payments will only begin from the 20th, but I can'y think what that might be.
Your pay day will be Tuesday fortnightly, as to which Tuesday cycle, I can't say because I don't have the info I need to hand
You will be paid when they have received your sicknote, if you have not sent this yet, you could phone ESA and ask for an appointment at the jobcentre to have emailed. If you post it you won't see your payment for 2 weeks, if you have it emailed you will see your payment within 4 days of your jobcentre appointment, Assuming your pay day has already passed.
If other MSE users would like to help....If you say did you get paid ESA this week just gone or due to paid next week? or on JSA did you sign this last week or next week? And what the last two digits on your NI number are they odd or even?0 -
Thanks for the reply. I'm claiming from 11th November. They have already received my sicknote.
I don't understand the "The amounts on this page apply from 20 November 2014" part. If it said 18 November it would make more sense, as that would be 7 days after the date of the beginning of my claim.
However, what I really want to know is do I receive two full weeks as the first payment? Or do I have to wait two weeks after the 7 days after the date of my claim? Hope that makes sense...
Thanks again for any help.0 -
As you are claiming from the 11th your payments will begin from the 18th.
Your first payment will be from the 18th to the first relevant Tuesday
Which means you will either get
£10 as your first payment for the 18th
or
£80 as your first payment from the 18th to the 25th
But it will only be issued when they have your med cert. and only on or after the 18th or the 25th respectively.0 -
The dates simply don't tie up. As epitome has already given the relevant dates based on a claim from 11 November I won't repeat them.
Sadly it is not unusual for letters from DWP to leave people confused. :-(0
