One minute

Just spotted this on the NoToMob forum. A PATAS adjudicator upheld an appeal where the motorist allegedly left his car in a suspended parking pay for one minute following the start of the suspension:

The adjudicator ruled that he needed to see evidence that the "officer's equipment" (presumably his watch!) was calibrated daily, preferably to an atomic clock, and there was no such evidence.

Well what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. Patrick Trouserfire is always banging on about comparability between his members' fake tickets and real parking tickets, so this is one comparison worth pursuing. We have long advocated questioning the accuracy of automatic camera systems, but anyone facing a fake ticket which is based on timings should definitely question the accuracy of the equipment, especially when (i) the time period resulting in the issue of the ticket is small and (ii) it's a windscreen ticket, given that the parking weasel is probably relying on a watch he bought in a petrol station for £3.
