Fraud Loan?

A close friend has taken out x4 loans using my details online. Is this fraud & what solutions is there as do not want to involve police or have the person done for fraud..... Do I call the bank & explain what has happened, will they reverse the loans? Any advice would be much appreciated as completely lost as to what to do!

  • You need to involve the police. No ifs, no buts.

you either contact the police or accept that this debt is down to you to pay (assuming your close friend does not pay it)
Think about it....if the lenders took the opinion that "oh you said it was not you that took the loans out, don't worry we will just write the money off no problem" how many people would look to that as being a way of getting their own debts cancelled. If this person has committed fraud then the police need to be involved
Whose accounts were the loans paid into? whose accounts are the repayments coming out of?

Exactly. The 'close friend' has stolen the money. Either from you who might not involve the police, or the banks who definitely will.

How complicit were you in this fraud? How did you find out about it and when? Was documentation sent to your address? Was the money paid in to your bank account?

If it ain't your loan, it ain't your loan. You can tell the lender that without implicating your friend. Whether or not you should is a different matter. :rotfl:

However, the lender may report it to the Police and things could or would get tricky for you and your friend then.

    1. Inform the Police and report the fraud.

    2. Pay it and move on accepting that you really that easy to walk over.

Op, if YOU don't want to report this to the Police, then wit until the letters demanding payment start to arrive and then report that a person/s unknown have used your stolen details to obtain each loan.

The lenders WILL involve the Police and your so-called 'friend' will soon end up inside (with you denying all knowledge that you knew they were responsible).

    OR

Do as everyone else has said and contact the Police or ActionFruad.
After all, you may be just one of many victims of this friend. Their modus operandi may be to get close to people, gain their full trust, then take out financial products in their name.

THINK ABOUT IT. Your actions may well help catch a serial fruadster.
