Morning all! Not too foggy drive in to work, was expecting worse! DS13 is on a trip with Scouts today to Duxford, so he was up early making his packed lunch. DS16 has guitar lesson later. Not sure what's for dinner yet, haven't organised anything so may be fish and chips!

Choir concert tomorrow evening with 3 hour rehearsal in afternoon. Need to make a chicken curry for dinner, and veggie version, and hope I get home in time to eat it before going back for concert.

Glad to hear Docky a bit better, Lyn. Nightmare about the dental visit, Snoozer, that sounds awful! Exciting wedding plans though.

Afternoon all! Haven't been on this in ages - time to get back into it all! Dry but cold here, up early this morning, wm & dw on the go! Decided I'm going to declutter a room at a time before xmas and hopefully make a few pound at it!! Have windows cleaned, medicine cupboard sorted and am taking into the living room at the min, moved all furniture and hoovered and moped - don't think behind the tv cabinet has ever seen water :o

DH away all day so at least he'll not be following me around like a lost puppy! Have to go to Asda later (meal plan to be done aswell) and to the butchers aswell think I'll do a big roast tomorrow. Need to get off this or I'll get nothing done:rotfl: have a great weekend everyone!!

    LW, has Jess arrived yet?
Yes; she arrived Thursday and will be here til Monday. Currently snoring her head off!

Glad to hear that Docky's meds are appearing to help - Jessie sends him a big slurpy Labrador lick.

Sorry - I've read, but little has sunk in (bl00dy brainfog + lack of sleep) so I'll shut up for now.

    Afternoon all

It's cool outside but dry. I need to pop to Asda in a bit to pick up DH meds, may take the opportunity to have a quick scout in Aldi whilst there. I am after their luxury dried mixed fruit but I haven't seen it so far this year. I need to bake a cake too, I think, I managed to crack an egg whilst collecting them this morning and can't bear to waste it! I also need to go and pick some more raspberries as they are still coming. We have had bumper crops this year - plenty to eat fresh and enough jam made for the next year I hope.

I have two bags of four unwaxed lemons which I picked up for 19p each which I thought to do lemon curd and a drizzle cake, but have just had an idea to see if I can find a limoncello recipe for Xmas gifting. Will report back if I find a good one.

JackieO - why have I never thought of rice pud in the SC? Genius idea and one which I will adopt I think. DH enjoys a rice pud.

Snoozer same here with dental numbing issues, they never believe you though, do they.

Well, better get a wriggle on. Hugs to all that want or need them
  • Morwenna I usually put it on last thing at night before I go to bed and when I get up in the morning the kitchen smells gorgeous and is nice and warm and the pud is done a treat :):):)double whammy I feel :):)

Whats the story......very few on here last 3 days....maybe those MIA are getting organised for Dec 25th?.Havent started myself so need to start soon?

Took DS1 out for breakfast this morning and he is now on the way home....caught a 3 point speeding fine and €80 fine on way to breakfast, so he wasnt a very happy bunny.

There is leftover curry in the fridge so no cooking today, just a heat up when needed.

Currently watching Eng v SA rugby...South Africans currently up 13-3, England need to pull up their socks a bit .

Going to spend the afternoon doing some crochet, blanket for a baby being born by c-section on Monday, so had better get my skates on.

May sort fruit for Chfistmas cake later, made Nigellas with prunes in last year and it was really nice, was really lazy too and bought some ready rolled icing...looked great!

We didnt get the promised heavy rain last night, bright enough today too, so feeling quite cheerful, washing on airers.

JackieO you really are an inspiratiion to us all, definitely think that you should write some kind of penny-pinching book, only problem might be finding the time as you lead such a busy life!

Lyn...so pleased that medication is working forDocky and that he is finding some peace.

Snoozer.....horrified at treatment of DS, I have always needed extra anaesthetic too, cant imagine pain involved......have tohave a loose tooth removed on Monday in preparation for op on 9th Dec, so will be thinking of his ordeal!

Have a good weekend all, stay warm and safe

  • meanmarie I wish I had the time :) this afternoon I had the plumber in as my CH had died on me but its not a very bad problem and he will be back on Monday with the part (ingnitor has gone kaput ) Been chucking it down almost all day so not great weather I even gave up the idea of going to the library as it was so wet,but still soup was made and rice pud is ready to be switched on before bed (I'll need the warmth in the kitchen:))

Tonight's Dinner is jacket spud ,baked beans and a slice of chicken pie from the freezer.quick and easy to do as the pie will go into the Remoska for warming up, the spud will go into the m'wave to three parts cook it then into the Remoska to crisp up with the pie and the beans will get 'nuked' in the m'wave I'm not standing cooking in a cold kitchen tonight ,quick and easy meal for me:) fresh fruit salad for pudding so tonight I will be in the sitting room with my 'blankey' over my knees and my soft furry slippers on and maybe a shawl around my shoulders, I'll definitely look like Methusalehs grandma tonight :):):).Hope no one knocks on the door they'll get a fright :):):)
    Have a good evening everyone

Just reading your post JackieO, the builder said he would call this afternoon but by 5.30 he hadn't arrived, I was cold so went in the bath. You've guessed it - he called.

The bath is downstairs opposite the front door so I shouted 'Is that you *****?'. He shouted back that it was. Now I do know this chap very well so I answered the door in my dressing gown and a towel on my head!

We wandered round looking at what was to be done (my bedroom!) whilst I was in a state of undress, dripping all over the bare floorboards!

Poor guy has probably gone home for a stiff drink to get the vision erased from his mind!
  • Thank you all for your good wishes, it was refreshing to have good news healthwise for a change :D

Camelot :rotfl::rotfl:that's the sort of thing that happens to me.

snoozer  that is awful, was it at the Lethal & Deadly by any chance?

We went to Collectormania MK this morning and had a cracking time, saw Amanda Tapping (Carter, Stargate) Colin Baker, David Haye, Chris Barrie, Freema Agyeman, Sarah Sutton (Nissa Dr Who)Dave Prowse and lots of others. We might go again tomorrow :D
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
