I've been getting magazines 3 for £1 for about a year now - cancelling the DD before the third issue arrives.

Had a couple of problems with magazines charging the full quarterly cost instead of £1, but easily sorted out, once I've called them.

However....regarding these 'free gift' offers....

Do you actually pay the full price for a year/half-year/quarter?

Or.....do you cancel after receiving the first issue (and the gift)?
If the latter, do you get a full refund, or do they charge you for the single issue you have received?

I have had several of these mag offers with free gifts. I usually get the free gift before or very shortly after the first direct debit comes off (always the min. term say 3 months). I cancel the dd as soon as possible and they still send out the remaining mags, usually get a letter from the mag company saying dd has been cancelled and your sub expires with xx mag.

I have had a dd reapear after cancelling tho, when you take out a sub with the same company, but a different mag this can happen.

Does anyone know if you can subscribe, get your free gift, and then a few months later subscribe and get another free gift for the same magazine? I assume its only for new subscriptions, but just thought I'd ask.

Also jo_b, the link and code is wrong- do you know what the proper code is for the company rimmel london offer? or has it just expired/not been activated yet? Thanks,

Most of these "free gift" offers usually charge about £5 for 3 issues and free gift, they normally take the 1st direct debit payment before sending the free gift out to you. I tend to cancel the direct debit as soon as I've recieved the free gift,and they still send you all the 3 issues of the magazine that you've already paid for.

However I've just realised I've accidentaly cancelled my direct debit to Zest before they've taken the 1st payment and I've received the magazine and the free gift (which was a box full of original source goodies). Oops!:o

Am I going to get into trouble for this? Getting a bit worried!
