First Utility
Hey all,
Having a bit of a mare with First Utility.
I left them in March, I was fully paid up.
They never closed my account even though I rang them up specifically to do this and they took my final readings as you'd expect.
In the following months and to this day I'm receiving emails saying that my bill is ready from them, every month the value changes. I've rung in and they said they've lost my readings when I left and that it'll have to be estimated, to which I replied asking why they're trying to bill me in October/November when the person I spoke to said my account was up to date and it will be closed shortly.
I received another bill saying that everything had been sorted and I now owed £180 - this was in October. I submitted a long email on their site stating everything I've just said and how much stress this is causing me messing me around like this - no reply.
I've received another bill for £2 more on my old bill, £182. I've submitted another customer service thing and I've again had no reply.
I have no idea how to handle this situation and every time I get a bill is ready email I can't help but get stressed about the situation.
Any help would be tremendously appreciated!

The end readings of FU should be the start readings with whatever supplier you switched to.
If they're not, they and your new supplier need to sort it out between them.
You will also be expected to pay up to the actual switching date, from which point the new supplier would have started billing you.
I'm sorry, I think you really are too stressed out at present as your post doesn't really make much sense to me.
I would suggest you take all relevant paperwork (of both old & new suppliers) to the CAB and see if they can assist you.
Edit:
Actually, after doing a bit of digging, did you mean you closed your FU account because you moved out of a rented property?
If so, the outgoing meter readings should be recorded on the outgoing statement of condition/inventory.
You should also have something (or be able to get something from LL/LA) that confirms when your tenancy officially ended.0 -
Sorry I don't think I was very clear.
I moved out of the property at the end of March which is why I ended the supply to the property.
April I was in a new rented property with a new supplier - SSE
We had a really bad landlord which provided no inventory / absolutely nothing who we took to court for, I made a thread about this back in April.
I didn't keep a record of it myself as I'd already told them the final readings and it just didn't occur to me when they say "No problem it's all sorted for you the account will be closed"
Im not disputing when my tenancy ended, they know when it ended, what they're trying to bill me for is extra energy when I lived there as they're going off estimates even though I gave them full readings every month as that was the deal for the plan I was on. I only started getting these emails in about July saying my bill for FU was ready.0 -
Anyone able to help me at all?0
