Sky Discount Code offer not honoured

I don't know if anyone else has had this experience, but it concerns the recent offer of a 50% discount on package PLUS a £50 Tesco/M&S Voucher or Mastercard prepaid credit.

When I signed up using the code, I went to the page linked to on MSE, but was told that it could not be completed online and I would have to call the provided number. I did and was assured that the offer code was fine, and the package was duly booked and installation arranged.

Once the installation was completed, I went to the mySky page to redeem the voucher promised, and Lo! There was no voucher.

I contacted Sky who deny that the offer included the voucher, even when shown the appropriate MSE literature confirming the terms.

They have refused point-blank to honour this part of the offer.

Anyone know of a way to force them to honour their commitment or is this just another case of having to let a big company steamroller me?

I was reluctant to re-sign to Sky as it was, after previous less-than-stellar episodes of customer care with them in the past, so this is no real surprise, but I feel that the offer was a used as a "bait and switch" incentive, and I have been effectively deceived into signing a new contract under false circumstances.

Any advice or similar experiences with these charlatans anyone?

Cheers.

Well I used the code and got the offer prices confirmed last week, installation next week.
I also had to ring up as I was already a Freesat from Sky customer and the offer is only for NEW customers. They agreed that I qualified even though I was registered on their client base.
  • OK .. best of luck .. let us know if you get the voucher option after the installation.

Sounds like a classic "dodge the commission" move.

MSE make their money from referrals and they would have made money from your sign up. BUT only if you complete online so that the sale is tracked.

Complete by phone instead and MSE lose their commission.

Anyone know if this is what happened here?
  • I phoned sky to see if I was able to take up the offer as we had skysat which we didn't pay for under my husbands name and if we could change to the variety package in my name as I had not been a customer of sky. I was told this was ok and if I had the code he would set it up for me there and then which I thought great but at no stage was I told I would not then be able to get the voucher
I have had dealings with sky which ended with me having to write, phone and be totally disgusted with them and threaten legal action against them so I'm not surprised I've been shafted again.
