Ford - Visual body & paint check

Do I really need to pay £16 to Ford, as part of a 2 year service, for them to look at the paintwork and create a paper trail, otherwise the perforation warranty is invalid?

Also how advisable is a brake fluid change at 2yrs 9,000 miles?

Thanks

  • Ford will tell you they advise you to change the brake fluid. Why are they charging for the inspection are you having it serviced elsewhere?

The perforation warranty is an additional. Standard for it to require scheduled paint checks across manufacturers.
Whether you view it as worth paying is up to you.

So should I pay £16 for them to look at the paint work? Does it legally invalidate the warranty if they don't look at it? The warranty is standard and comes with all new fords. The local Ford dealer are servicing it.

Would you advise a brake fluid change at 2 yrs 9,000 miles.

Thanks for any advice, I know it's my choice, but I would like to hear other people's opinions.

They just did it as part of the service for mine and didn't charge any extra.
  • Surely it's worth the £16 to avoid any quibbling further along the line when you may need to claim on the bodywork warranty?

Given the amount of issues i've had trying to change my brake fluid that's been in the car the last 8 years and seeing the condition of it, i'd pay to have it replaced every 2 years if you want to keep hold of the car long term.

It draws in and retains water even if not driving it often so after 2 years(ish) it's deemed contaminated to the extent it's beneficial to change it.

If you don't, you might have brake fade or the brake pipes can start to corrode internally or the calipers become seized. The latter two take more than 2 years to happen but It's better to prevent through thorough servicing.
