closingaccount confusion!
moved house, old supplier was BG, swapping over to them at the new property too from Eon, Eon tell me they are waiting for BG to give them the openning reading, I was told by BG they will ask me for them then pass them onto Eon, nothing happens for weeks, rang again today and they now say it's for Eon to give them the closing readings from Eon, which they will then use as my new start readings!!! Eon havenot askedme for any readings?
Anyone know what the process is, as talking to both Eon and BG moving homes departments, you would think they would give the correct info the first time.

You give the new supplier the readings. The new supplier passes them to the old supplier.
Have BG requested meter readings from you? Have you supplied them?
Normally they are requested when they confirm the switch is going live
Have BG contacted you confirming date of actual switch yet?0 -
Hi sniggings
Thought I'd pop on with a bit of information about changing supplier.
It's the responsibility of the new supplier to let the old supplier have the meter readings they intend to use to start their account. The old supplier will use the same readings to close their account.
This stops the same energy from being charged twice.
Once we've the readings, we'll issue a final bill to these. This is usually within 30 days of the switch completing.
If there's a delay receiving readings, we may issue a final bill to estimates. This can be re-billed once we receive accurate readings.
You mention talking to our Home Moves team. These guys deal only with customers moving in/out of properties. They wouldn't be involved with a change of supply. They should've pointed you in the right direction though.
We're a bit in limbo. We can't take your readings as they need to be validated through the correct industry channels and this is down to the new supplier.
Sorry I can't help more sniggings but hope it's of interest.

You give the new supplier the readings. The new supplier passes them to the old supplier. this was what I was first told, until today I rang, as I had new charges put on the closed accounts, after final readings were given and DD taken for the closing balances from my account, now turns out they owe me money!
I asked again why the delay, she then said it was Eon delaying as they need to pass the closing readings ontothem, which atthe time I didn't think sounded correct but she was adamant.
Have BG requested meter readings from you? Have you supplied them? no request, I supplied them online, but a couple of days later got a email saying they were accepted. since then had an email 2 days ago saying welcome to BG yet still on request for readings and then the incorrect info today on the phone call
Normally they are requested when they confirm the switch is going live
Have BG contacted you confirming date of actual switch yet? I've been now told 2 different going live dates!!
Cheers guess I need to ring them again :mad:0
