Remy Martin VSOP v Courvoisier VSOP

Hello,
I normally buy Remy Martin VSOP for a gift.
I am thinking of buying the Courvoisier VSOP as a change but i don't know if it's better/nicer than Remy Martin.
Can anyone tell me which is the best please?

Thanks

As has been said, there is no 'better'. It's a matter of personal taste. I do drink cognac and of the two I prefer Courvoisier - though neither of these would be my personal choice.

You simply cannot get a definitive answer to this question, I'm afraid.

They are both respected brands so either would make a very nice gift. I'd go with whatever one you can pick up cheapest.

That's a good suggestion. Any cognac drinker would be pleased with either.

Courvoisier is more 'flowery' in taste and smell, perhaps a bit more of an acquired taste, although it was the cognac of choice for Napoleon. Remy is a more main stream cognac. Being very subjectve I would say Courvoisier for women and more expert cognac drinkers, and Remy as the 'safe' option for beginners. To be honest both are good cognacs and anyone receiving either should be very grateful.
  • Thank you all for your replies, much appreciated.
I think i'll buy both then ask them which they prefer for next time.

    Thanks again
