check out the Sterling House thread- ibuyit.biz seem to be causing problems everywhere0

I have also been ripped off by ibuyit.biz, same story as other people, bought bike in December from Sterling House, noticed transaction on bank statement 11th April. Emailled ibuyit, they told me they would refund my account 15-20 days time, not appeared in account! I have reported the theft to the police, watchdog, bank and loads of forums etc.
Have emailled Sterling House requesting their data protection policies and what companies are in their group. Their website states that they will share customer data with other companies within their group but no outside agencies, no response from them either, this makes me very suspicious about their involvement!! I would expect if a legitimate companies name was linked with online fraud they would be very eager to clear their name and assist wherever possible to stop this scam, especially because it involves their customer data.
Can anyone think of any other avenue it is possible to follow, I am totally enraged that somone can steal from you and there be no retribution?

This morning I checked my On-line statement from EGG and found a transaction that I did not recognise. It was from an on-line company called WWW.IBUYIT.BIZ. When I investigated it seems like any other on-line IT company. They have an address with phone numbers etc. But I did not recognise it at all. The amount taken was for €152 (£107). I think I would have remembered spending this much in recent weeks. I can tell you I didn't!!! I contacted Egg immediately via 08451 233 233 who explained that this was a fraudulent transaction from what they think could be a bogus company. They have had quite a few complaints with identical details and the exact same amount being taken.
Please check your credit card statements carefully. Also the date was APRIL 1st!!!!
I checked my account and found a payment to IBUYIT.biz for £172 taken from my Abbey account on 20th April. Phoned them tonight, I have call back tomorrow morning to speak to their fraud dept.
I like to get my hands on the "!!!!!!" who stole my number."Food has replaced sex in my life. Now, even I can't get into my own pants."0 -
As pubs and restaurants seem to be the source of a lot of the problems maybe it would be a good idea to pay by cash/cheque or make sure that you do not leave the card behind as a tab. Might also pay to only use those establishments where you can see the card being swiped. It won't stop all of them but it would reduce the amount of fraud. Maybe we could get the card issuers to insist that all card machines are visible, ours is and all void etc slips are returned to the customer.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I've discovered £172.30 paid to IBUYIT.BIZ. Contacted the Abbey today and I'm getting a full refund and my card is stopped. Thankfully I had the foresight to withdraw some cash before getting on the phone.
The banks are aware of this fraud so you would think they would block all transactions and verify them with the cardholder.
BTW I also used Sterling House for the first time. in Febuary, coincidence?"Food has replaced sex in my life. Now, even I can't get into my own pants."0 -
Have any of you used Sterling House to buy a bike? There seems to be a definite link between using Sterling House and ibuyit.biz (see other thread on here).0

I bought a bike from sterling house a few months ago with my Cahoot Credit card.
Interestingly, last night I got an email from Cahoot, saying that they have been informed that the security at a particular merchant has been compromised and unfortunately my account may have been affected. As a precautionary measure they have suspended my account and have sent me a new card which should arrive in the post in the next few days
Nice one Cahoot !0 -
I have just received my latest staement from my monument credit card and there is a charge of £179.70 for https://www.ibuyit.biz and having read other entries it appears that most of these transactions have a connection to sterling house. i would just like to add that i also bought a bike from these people but my tranaction was over three years ago where most of them seem to be over recent months so it may go back further than we are aware. CHECK YOUR STATEMENT!!!!!0
