There are over 16,000 Post Offices across the country so there should be a local one near you. The Post Office also allows you to pay in cash over the counter, all you have to do is hand over your Chip and PIN card.
The cut off time for paying cash into your account is 5.15pm. Cash paid in after this time will show on your account immediately, but may not credit your account until the next working day.
You can also pay in cheques, using a separate paying in slip and depositing the items in the Post Office envelopes provided. These envelopes can be ordered via the Internet Banking service, once you are registered, or by contacting customer services.0 -
We regularly use the post office to bank cheques into our co-op account. As per the previous poster, you just need a paying in slip and post office envelope and they will give you a receipt. It takes a few days longer to bank than paying directly into a branch but we are about 20 miles away from the nearest co-op bank so it makes life far easier for us.Mortgage free wannabeMortgage (November 2010) £135,850Mortgage (November 2020) £4,7840

I found it much quicker to post cheques to the Co-op rather than relying on the Post Office Counter.0

As long as you have the special envelopes and paying in slips, it's a doddle. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

It was always quick and easy for me. I never noticed any significant delay in receiving the funds.0

I used to have a Coop account and frequently deposited checks at the Post Office. Most of the time it worked fine but there was once when it took 3 weeks to credit a £3000 cheque!0

Never had a problem & have been using the PO for banking Smile (Coop internet branch) cheques for well over 10 years. Can't say I've noticed any delay in cheques clearing either.
My only advice is not to rely on the PO having their own supplies of banking envelopes so you'll need to order your own. Some of the larger POs do keep a small supply of envelopes, but most don't. Envelopes ordered through customer services arrive quickly too.& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin
