Strange Google listing

Just did a Google search on Jessica Ennis to try and read her full statement on the Ched Evans saga. The top website result is her own offical site, https://www.jessicaennis.net. The Google listing has the site title and URL correct, but the text that accompanies it appears to be pharmaceutical spam.

You can see a screengrab here - link - it's ever-so-slightly NSFW.

So what's going on here? Hacked website? Dodgy SEO?

What's she going to do if it is sent back to the court for a re-trial by the criminal cases review and he is found not guilty?
Keep very very quiet indeed I suppose.......

I guess it was a hacked website when the Google bot indexed the last time.

I've just searched "Jessica Ennis" on Google & come across exactly the same thing.

I'm quite confident that it isn't anything on this computer or browser that might be hijacking the results.

If it was anything to do with Google indexing a hacked website then you'd expect Google cache to reflect this . . . but it doesn't !

Might be worth taking to a more knowledgeable tech forum with a deeper understanding of just how easy it is to manipulate Google?

Why? The cached website is from 20:22 today, the snippet in the search could be a few days old...

Yes it does! If you look at the cached version of the page, view the source (Ctrl+U in Firefox), and search for the dodgy text, you can confirm that it's contained within the cached webpage.

As suggested above, it looks like Google's cache contains a copy of the site whilst it had been "hacked". It looks like the site has now been fixed.
  • That's interesting - I never thought to check the Google cache.
