DLA Helpline - what do they do exactly?

Hi all, sorry if this sounds like a daft question!!
I already receive DLA and will soon need to make a claim for PIP.
In 2007 my level of mobility got even worse but I didn't let them know: so I really need to get that sorted now before the PIP thing comes in.:o
When you phone them do they just take your details and send you forms to fill in or do they fill in the form with you whilst on the phone?
If its the latter then I need to have all my paperwork with me when I phone.
Thanks all.

As far as I can remember they do have a service that they can fill the form in over the phone then send you the completed form to sign and send back to them. This may have changed. You can get someone else like CAB OR DIAL to help with filling in forms.
Infact this is probably the best thing to do because they no how to word things without waffling and give the right information.0 -
have you made sure that your area isnt changing all renewals/superssessions ( changes of circumstance) to PIP already?
if it is, then by asking for your claim to be reviewed, you will be claiming PIP instead.
they will ask security questions ( NI number, date of birth, bank name/account number/sort cose etc... not all of them... just a few at random)
they will then send you a new form.
remember, they may also look at any care award at the same time

DIAL is Disability Information and Advice Line.
they are dotted about all over the country, so check if theres one local to you.
they do have a very heavy caseload though, so you need to book an appointment as soon as you can
