i applied through the "cheap energy club"to change my gas and electricity supplier from scottish power to e-on,looked like a good deal, saving over £120 a year.then i looked closer and discovered that if you leave scottish power you will lose this years warm home discount of £140.you need to re-apply to e-on,but there scheme has closed to new applicants.so much for mse's mass switch and save.

spotted before switch,so cancelled switch.how many, possibly thousands do not know and will be paying more than before.as far as i can see, none of the comparison sights mention the warm home discount in their comparisons.the people this hits most are the people who need this help the most.0

Hi fatbob
Thought I'd confirm, we're looking to close our current Broader Warm Home Discount scheme around 24 November 14. This is for online applications. We stopped sending paper applications on 9 November 14.
It's highly unlikely a switch started any time now will complete by this date.
With us, the electricity must be supplied by E.ON when applications for the Broader Group are made and when the discount is awarded.
Also, eligibility conditions differ between suppliers. Ours may be different from other suppliers.
It's different for Core Group customers. Here, we'll pay the discount to customers qualifying through this group if they were on supply with us on 12 July 14. This includes those who've subsequently changed supplier.
Hope this is of interest.

I applied to swap my supply to E.ON from Britisg Gas, solely because the MMS Energy club stated they were the cheapest supplier who were part of the Warm Home discount scheme.
Despite advertising themselves as providing the best energy company customer support, it took three emails to them, asking them to send me an application form, before I received a reply.
Conveniently for them, the reply took my E.ON application past the two week cool off date, so now I cannot cancel and take my custom elsewhere.
They suggested I apply to British Gas, as my supply was with them in July.
I'm now going to be paying more for my electricity with E.ON than with British Gas. I've emailed British Gas, but don't expect they will give me the discount now I'm leaving, as they didn't bother to tell me I was eligible for the discount for three years, despite knowing I was on DLA and struggling with arrears .
Does anyone know if I can take this up elsewhere?
