Fundraising for Cardiac Risk in the Young (C-R-Y)

Hi all,

I'm glad to have found this forum, I'm trying to raise funds this year by doing a 100km walk London 2 Brighton with all money going to Cardiac Risk in the Young (charity number 1050845, website www.c-r-y.org.uk or www.testmyheart.org)

I did the same 100km event last year and managed to riase £500 through the generous sponsorship of all of my friends, but feel a little cheeky asking them all to sponsor me again.

Any ideas on MSE fundraising ideas? everything seems to cost me to organise etc which is obviously not really the idea!

I have so far:
- Held a wine-tasting party & magic squares raffle where all comission went towards my target and got £197 :j - Tesco also donated nibbles for the evening which was great!

- Contacted many many businesses, big and small, for raffle prize donations, with very little positive response. I thus far dont have anything big enough to encourage ticket sales

- Contacted local schools to see if they'll do a charity day in exchange for me giving an assembley / talk on the charity i'm representing - again very little positive response.

- Asked my employer to donate some money - and got £100 :j

Most of my friends / family are fundraising for different reasons and different charities - i think everyone is a little donation-fatigued, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

If any one wants to check out my efforts so far, you can follow me on http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Mels100km

Thank you for any advice and support!
Mel
