Unwanted ads on screen

My screen has suddenly become covered with unwanted advertisements which block parts of what I need to see. They can be removed, but this takes time. I sometimes also get a voiceover which can only be removed by deleting several (also unwanted) screens.

What can I do?

Thanks.
Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!

Download and run Malwarebytes delete anything it finds. Then add AdBlock+ to your browser to stop any further ads.

Seriously though, the above advice is good. I'd also add, download and run Spybot, and make sure you've got antivirus running ( Avast is a reasonable free one ).

Ads don't necessarily indicate a virus, and spyware is slightly different again, but better safe than sorry.
