Linked addresses and CCJ Expiry

Hi all,

I have a CCJ expiring next week and am thinking of applying for some credit for a new car(company car contract expiring), I will be putting some cash down too so will only need part finance of about £5000.

My credit file accounts other than this CCJ is all good with an active credit card with no missed payments since opened in 2006 and a balance of £90.00 (i use just for fuel) and a credit limit of £3000, a phone contract with no missed payments since opened in 2003 a british gas account, a BT sport account and a current account with no overdraft. I am also on the electoral role too.

I am wondering though, if I go for credit with a dealership or bank and they do a credit check on me will it bring up the linked addresses from where the CCJ was issued therfor bringing the CCJ up on their systems?

I am worried about this because as far as I knew the CCJ isnt visible by lenders after 6 years.

Any helpful info will be much appreciated.

    Hi modder25

A credit search by lenders will go back six years. No more, no less.

Old linked addresses from the past six years may show up as is standard, but these would not in any way "reveal" a CCJ more than six years old.

    Hi Dennis,

Thank you for your quick response.

So my linked addresses wouldnt show up anything negative if it is no longer on my credit file, ie over 6 years old?

    Many Thanks

Exactly. You may have been at an address for a period that straddled either side of November 2008 (which is when your current report would stretch back to), but only credit history from Nov 2008 onwards will appear on your file.

    Thanks again.

I hope that when I do apply that I am successful, still a bit nervous even though my report is looking good on all 3 CRAs, apart from the CCJ of course but this will be gone next week.
