How to run an XP package on my win 7 pro?

I have win 7 pro 64bit os. I have a piece of software which ran fine on XP Pro but it proving a bit flaky when running on win 7 pro 64 bit. I am not sure how to install it in XP-mode Can anyone advise?

    If you right-click the executable, click Properties and select the Compatibility tab, you can set various compatibility options. You may need to run the program as Administrator and use XP compatibility mode.

    If that fails, sometimes you can get the program to install by disabling UAC, installing the program, then re-enabling UAC.

    As above. There are plenty of settings to play around with. XP basically allows software to run as administrator. Vista onwards has locked down on this and some programmes don't like it - there's an option to 'run as administrator' that you could try too, but the modes esuhl describes above emulates that anyway AFAIK.
    If those don't work, and it's really important, you could always use a virtual machine. VirtualBox is free. Install Windows XP on it and install the software.

    Win 7 Pro and ultimate includes the facility to download a fully licenced virtual machine copy of XP which operates fully integrated with win 7.
