Amex application question - time with your bank

Hi

A am in the middle of applying for Amex cashback card. There is one question in the application form, which i am not sure how to answer and it's: How long have you been with your Bank or Building Society.
As i recently changed banks - do i put here time with the current bank, or do i put the number of years i held a bank account (counting in the years with the previous bank)?

Any opinion will be appreciated.

In answer to the question "How long have you been with your Bank or Building Society?" you should state how long you have been with your bank or building society.
(i.e not a figure relating to how long you may have been banking elsewhere)

Lenders like to see stability, one of the reason why its good to keep one account open in the long term even if you dont really use it.
  • I have put time with my current bank and been accepted! Many thanks for your replies.
  • Does anyone know if the would apply to a change of accounts, say from a Cash Card account to a full current account?

Does it matter if the question is "how long have you been with your bank?"

If, however, your account number (and possibly the sort code too) changed when you 'upgraded' AND the question was "how long have you held this account?", then that's a different matter.
