7 minutes from locking the back door to sitting at my desk... Not too shabby!

Mine used to be like that, worked one mile away from home, moved office and its now double the distance. If i ever go to meetings in Manchester or london (couple of times a year)at rush hour i just can't imagine what its like being a rep or someone who travels an hour or two to get to their office sat in some dreadful eco diesel vauxhall insignia every day. I'd have the Samaritans on speed dial.
  • I did meet someone who commuted from Liverpool to Banbury every day by car.

Also on my last project the project manager commuted from Taunton to Edmonton N London and back every day. He was a contractor though so could offset his travel against tax.
  • This isn't exactly an unusual commute, but it's just plain daft, and I thought some of you might appreciate the funny side of it:

I live in Tameside and drive to Macclesfield - 25 miles each way. After several weeks of unexplained increases in traffic (with the journey taking 90-120 minutes each way) I've now found an alternative route that is consistently an hour. All I have to do to cut the travel time in half is set off from home and drive several miles in completely the wrong direction...

On a more related note, I spent 4 years commuting to Barcelona from London. Cost-wise it wasn't too bad but more than once I left the office very late and got home an hour after I needed to set off again.

Despite having possibly the shortest commute known to man, he was hardly ever on time and was eventually sacked for being late.
Someone I knew spent over three years driving Hinckley-Telford five days a week and was never late once, even in the worst of winter weather, unlike some colleagues who lived only a few miles away.

However, getting home on time was another matter entirely!
