Are you sure you got the right card when you applied? I have just done the first bit of the application and it said
"Based on your details and the result of our eligibility check we can't offer you your first choice. The good news is that we do have another competitive MBNA Platinum credit card for you to consider.
Transfer money into your current account at a rate of 0% for up to 14 months from the date your account is opened (4% handling fee, £3 min). For this great offer your money needs to be transferred within the first 60 days of your account opening"0 -

will the interest saved on mortgage plus net interest on savings come to more than the cost of the money transfer fees?I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

Glad iv read these posts today! My MBNA Cc come today. WILL BE READING PAPER WORK making sure of the fee! Plus might ask for the new 2.2fee? What do you think the chance of that be?
And if they ask what it's for ill say house improvements.
thinking about bank transfer as much as I can, got a 6200 limit pay of my loan which has got 18months left on it £3900 settlement fee but with in 6months will have this back in savings account for the last 18months of the 0% but really not sure what to do! Oh and do Santander mortgages do off set accounts? (It's up in July) Which if they do would make it a lot more worth it0 -
Hi all,
I'm planning to apply for this MBNA card and am hoping for some advice on how I can maximise my chances of acceptance for this and other cards in future.
I currently have a Lloyds credit card (credit limit of £5,000, balance of £2,500).
I also have two older cards I no longer use:- Card 1 (credit limit of £1,500, no balance)
- Card 2 (credit limit of £3,000, no balance)
I have no other loans or overdrafts, so my total available credit is £9,500, with a utilisation rate of 25%. My credit history is immaculate, but the card companies never make any money out of me.
My question is: if I cancel either/both unused cards will this help or hinder me? I gather that some banks dislike unutilised credit while others see it as desirable. Anyone have any idea which category MBNA would fall into?
I also note from the comments above that some applicants have been given credit limits of over £10k. Is there any disadvantage in being greedy and asking for a large credit limit when I make the application, or do I need to try and guess what kind of limit they are likely to agree to?
I would appreciate any ideas or advice.
Thanks.0
