Co-Op Switch Incentive

Hey Guys,

I am looking to switch to the Co-Op current account for the £100 switch incentive.

It says on the website that you need 2 'Active' direct debits, if I was to set up 2 mandates that wouldn't actually come out of the account, would these count or not? It doesn't make it terribly clear....

Thanks in advance :-)

Pretty sure active means exactly that, they would have to have amounts coming out each month.

No, it doesn't. Active in this sense just means that the direct debit mandates are capable of being paid out (i.e. they haven't been dormant for 13 months).

So, OP, yes that would be fine.

2 standing orders will suffice for the co-op if that's easier, don't know if it is.

I did think standing orders would suffice. But that option seems to have disappeared off their website now and it only mentions direct debits.

Wasn't sure whether to risk it....

I switched a month ago using an account that had 2 DDs (paid every month) and an SO so can't comment on that part sorry. However with regard to having to "battle to get them to honour the incentives" - mine was paid into my account yesterday - just 29 days after the switch, so over a fortnight before they promised to.

They do take their time over it, but they tell you upfront that they pay within 45 days from the date your switch is completed. You are the first one who reports that you need to battle for it.

Apart from the early days when everyone had to battle for it...

Yes I believe earlier offers had some problems, but the current offer has been running smoothly, albeit at the pre-stated snails pace.

well yes, i am referring to last year.. i found their CS to be pleasant but lacking, and it took c6months to get the incentive. they tried not to pay it for a while, and they pushed it on to me to 'prove' that i qualified. not very 'co-operative'. and i'm certainly not the first colsten..i know others who have had similar problems, admittedly not recently.
