PC lockdown????

Turned on PC this afternoon, loads of windows updates started to run on auto.
We had a power crash that cut the supply to the PC.
Now I cannot restart the mc.
Switch on, get black screen due to incorrect shutdown.
Select "repair after forcing shutdown, your comp was unable to start"
Repair runs and runs and runs, it's locked in and nothing gets fixed.
Force shutdown again and try "start windows normally".
Freezes on windows logo immediately and have to shutdown again.
I just can't get it going to check for a solution.

Ok, forget it.
After trying for over an hour, switched off and on start up it's fine,
