  • Many people use the thanks button to signify agreement with the sentiment of the post. I don't agree it encourages cliques or bullying.
  • I do not use modern social media, where everyone seem to 'like' everything and everyone, which devalues things in my opinion. 'Thanks' on here often seems used in the same way.

    I try to use 'Thanks' sparingly, when a post has supplied interesting and useful information - a tip about cheap mobile broadband sims was one example. I have used it to welcome people whose first post looks good.

    I look for quality not quantity. I just ignore posts that add nothing of value to any discussion.

    I just think anyone taking it that seriously needs to step away from the computer, engage in a spot of real life and regain some perspective.
