Windows 8.1 - Limited Access - Wifi

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me, here

I'm runnings windows 8.1 on a brand new Desktop which uses a Qualcomm Atheros AR9287 wireless card.

I had trouble connection when i first loaded the PC, and then it worked for a few days and now its dropped again and I can't seem to get the "limited Acess" to disappear.

Ive tried to troubleshoot and i get "no valid ip configuration message" come up

Ive read various tutorials and tried various things including:
Running troubleshooter to automatically fix problem
Reset Router
Downloaded latest drivers for my Qualcomm Card
Uninstalling and reinstally drivers
Im at a bit of a loss as to what to try next, my IP settings and DNS settins are set to "optain automatically" as are my dads laptop which is also windows 8 and that was working ok last i checked

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried restarting the whole PC and then connecting again?

This seems to solve a similar problem on my W8.1 portable.

Downloading Wi-Fi8 and deleting all the duplicate instances for each connection did help for a few months but its starting to go the same way again an it is a bit of a PITA to edit all the entries again.

Hi, yeah Ive tried restarting, shutting down and even doing the windows refresh, it didnt make a difference

Ive got access again at the moment, buit I figure ill lose it again sometime, it seems temperamental Ive double checked the drivers and they are all up to date

Changing the power management settings worked for me. I don't 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'
Device Manager
Network Adapters
right-click the adapter
Properties,
Power Management tab, and untick 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'.

Thanks for the link, Ill give that a try...

Ive been googling trust me, the amount of Tuts and youtube videos ive followed without success is unreal, it doesnt seem to have one clear fix
