Replacing a fused spur with a plug socket (for fridge)..

I have got a new fridge. The old one was on a fused spur hardwired into the wall with a separate switch. The new one has a plug.
Can I replace the fused spur socket with a normal plug socket and just plug the fridge in like that and will it also go on/off with the switch that is there already? Or am I best to cut the plug off and hardwire into the existing fused spur?
Any sparks out there?
thanks!

no such thing as a fused spur socket. If it is an outlet after a fuse yes you can.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

If you fit a socket, the plug top will stick out that far..
Wire it direct into the spur, you will have that extra space...0 -
ok- thanks.
I wasnt quite sure of the terms!
I'll just stick a new socket on it as I may want to move the fridge at a later date.
cheers!0 -
