Hi folks,
I have a Santander 123 current account and I have just quit my job to go travelling for a year and wont need those direct debits to be in place.
Is there any way I can setup a direct debit to pay myself in another bank account and use that to pay back to myself in the 123 account as a regular income?
Hoping I can still save while away.
Thanks a mill!

Look for Tesco savings accounts. It's been discussed cillions of times0

I have a 123 with 2 DDs; #1 is Council tax which pays me enough cashback to cover the £2/month account charge. The 2nd is a tiny one for a dental plan. Simple.
All bank account security systems can be compromised and hacked but statistically it is very unlikely to happen to you. Of course one reads some horror stories on here and in the Daily Mail but remember there are many many thousands of customers who have used online banking for many many years with absolutely no problem at all.The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -

I was hacked within a few days of opening 123 Santander account. Didn't even sign up for OTP, but stillgot sent a code. Also I would consider a withdrawal of 95% of the balance would be "suspicious" and put on hold, but did they. No0

Not sure why this is in the "DD for 123" thread but since you posted it: what is the problem? The 123 is a current account. Many people run their current accounts right down to zero, or even into the red. There would be uproar all over the internet if a bank limited withdrawals from current accounts to 95% (of the last balance).
But more importantly, without a valid OTP nobody can set up a new payee on your account. That's the whole point about the OTP, and it's an automatic feature, you don't sign up for it. You would absolutely expect that the OTP is sent to you and not to somebody else. Santander also tell you that " If you EVER receive an OTP message which you are not expecting, notify us immediately as it may be a sign of attempted fraud on your account."
I presume you did immediately notify them of the unexpected code, and that you did not lose any money, right?
Did you ever find out how the hacker got hold of your login information?0 -
I don't have any problems with mine and make around £15 a month from the dd cash back. Definitely worth it for me.If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

From Santander website:[FONT="] The One-Time Passcode service is an additional level of security in Online Banking that allows you to authorize certain transactions. You can enroll in OTP within My Profile and Preferences located in the Customer Service Tab.
Operative word being enrol - to me that implies you don't have to if you don't want to.
