Lost Passport processing/process

Hi guys

I've booked a trip in March and it appears I've lost my passport. I only had a few months left on it. So it was due for renewal.

What is the process for getting a new passport if it is lost. Also what is the processing time. Can I do Fast track? Has anyone been through the process? What happens?

It still needs to be reported lost even if it was coming up for renewal. The process can be done online:

    https://www.gov.uk/report-a-lost-or-stolen-passport

You have to send the lost passport form in along with the application for a renewal.

Don't panic you've plenty of time between now and March. But I would start the process now. There's a chance they might want you to attend an interview for your replacement but no idea how common that is.
  • You'll need a fully completed form. 2 recent photographs and form LS01
You can book a fast track appointment if you phone the call centre 03002220000 and book an appointment. You will get your passport within 7 days using that service and it will cost £103. Otherwise send it through the post for the standard service which will cost £72.50 and there is no guarantee how long it will take. This is a quiet time of year so it should be out within a couple of weeks at the most.
You can also apply online @ https://www.gov.uk. But you will need a printer to to print off the declaration. If it's your first lost passport I doubt you will have to attend an interview
