When it comes to the job centre I NEVER lie. I rely on my benefit to keep a roof over my head (which will now be in the running for being taken away from me) and food in my stomach. As far as the email goes, I've been told that not only did they not recieve the email by today, the person I spoke to on Friday didn't take note of the reason for me calling in. "As far as I see here, you called on friday, but that could have been anything. You could have called up for a job enquirey." I don't like being called a liar to my face, or at all for that matter.
Anyway, I've been booted off jobseekers allowance. I need to attend an interview on monday to restart a new claim which could take two weeks to process and another week ontop of that for me to get my first payment again. I'm sick of crying.
Now we've got more detail, I can see how you wouldn't have had much time to prepare for the interview. And yes, if the woman said she'd pass on details of your call by e-mail she should have done so. No-one likes being called a liar, especially when they've tried to do the right thing.
As for your flat, I suggest you explain to the housing office what has happened (go there if you can, as you can make sure everything's written down). I don't know whether your housing benefit claim would automatically be terminated by the closure of your benefit claim, but if you can't get the new claim backdated which would then take care of your arrears, ask the housing office if you can make an arrangement to pay off the arrears at a few pounds a week. Unless there has been a history of problems with a rent account or a tenancy, it's extremely rare for housing departments to go down the court action path - if you'll only have two weeks' arrears, it would cost them about that if not more to take you to court anyway. If you speak to them, at least they know you're not deliberately leaving the matter unresolved, will know your circumstances & can discuss it with you. Even if they then took you to court, the fact that you'd approached them about the arrears rather than the other way around would work in your favour. I hope things work out for you.

It has already been stopped and a new claim to be started on monday. I'm currently already on a repayment plan for my debts to them, paying £3 per week on a friday. However, I'm five months behind in rent all together and now that my claim has been stopped, the plan will default and everything will go ahead as I mentioned already. This isn't something new I must stress, I've been in this situation with the housing for sometime now. My housing officer is well aware of my situation at all times, I called her this morning to tell her what's happened and she herself agreed that yes, I will recieve theese letters. I can only hope I get a job that pays about £1k after tax per month if I'm to catch up with this issue before being made homeless. Thanks for the input anyhoos.Debt free since 2014 - now saving for a mortgage deposit :heart2:

Time to wheel out the big guns.
Call shelter and get a caseworker. Your health history will help
so lay it on thick.
Once shelter got involved ( when I used to work in L givernment) this was when people finally got moving.
dont delay, the earlier you phone the better, its nigh on impossible to get through to anyone after 11 so phone NOW
Have you got any money at all, do you have food? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Would your mother (or a friend) be prepared to lend you the £3pw to keep you on the repayment plan? The court action is only going to start if you don't pay that, so perhaps your mother could lend you that money until your new claim is sorted out. If she would agree to do that, you could let your housing officer know today & pay the money tomorrow as usual. BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

hi JCD, I know exactly how you feel I have been there myself and hubby and 4 children. They just dont care at all. My hubby had forgot what date his interview was on. He went into the job centre to ask and was told that the interview was that day an hour earlier so he had missed it he asked if someone could see him there and then, but no one was available. the reason for missing the interview was not good enough (he was honest and told them he had genuinly forgot) so lying would have been better. They instantly stopped our benefits, our mortgage payments and council tax payments. it took about 6 weeks to get it up and running again.
My hubby is now in work (thank God) but it is only a 6 month temp contract hope they take him permenant. When we signed off it took us 8 weeks of daily phone calls to sign us off, they had a fault on the system and had to do it clerical. Until they had sign hubby off we could not receive any money due to us or any morgage payments or council tax payments. Thank God the morgage company were very understanding and we had to lend money from family until we got our first months wage.
I dont ever want to go there again but might have to if hubby does not get a permenant job. I appreciate that we can at least claim JSA if we dont have no work, but its the attitude of the people that you deal with its so wrong they just dont care.
I found that if you keep people informed about your sittuation (your housing) they can help.
Hope it gets sorted fast I really know where you are coming from.
