Boiler / hot water cylinder advice

  • Thanks for the replies. This is how it was explained to me. Like for like a Combi is cheaper than a heat only boiler therefore buy a combi. Because it is a combi one outlet has to be run directly off it, i.e. the tap in the downstairs toilet where the boiler will be. All other outlets will be off the water tank. So I don't need a combi sized for may hot water requirement just to heat the house (15 rads) and hot water tank.

I was considering a combi until the plumber said I would have to run a new mains with the correct pipe width from the outside mains (in the front of my property) all the way back to the kitchen where the boiler would be. He said it would cost £800 to just do that alone taking up the wooden flooring and floorboards . Wouldn't you have to do the same if you wanted a combi?
