Possible scam, Tripp win!

I got a email in my junk mail saying I had won a suitcase for £65 from Tripp.co.uk but i have to pay £4.00 delivery charge. That isnt right it must be a scam, if you win delivery is included. I have searched for a competition but cant find it, I enter so many cant keep track. What do others think??

  • I would email tripp directly and ask them to confirm.

If they say no, then it's probably a scam
  • I have won prizes in the past that have required a delivery charge. :)
If I cared what everyone else thought, I'd be just like everyone else, and there's already too many of them. :A

Don't know if that competition is a scam but reasonable/normal delivery charges can be made.

Gambling commission view is charging a normal delivery charge is ok.
In the Commission’s view, that does not mean that prize winners cannot be required to pay normal delivery or other normal costs needed to obtain or use the prize. For instance, the Act’s provisions do not, in the Commission’s view, prevent the organiser of a competition in which a camera is a prize requiring the winner to pay normal delivery costs which might be charged if that same camera was bought from a retailer. Nor, clearly, does it prevent the winner of a car being required to pay road tax. But there can be no additional payment over what it would normally cost to pay for delivery or use
  • I have emailed them thanks, be lovely if its a real win!

  • Hi I'm posting this as I have just received the same email, saying I've won a bag worth £65. I have bought from Tripp about a year ago, however I have never entered a competition. And also the email only included my title and first name, which immediately seemed very odd to me. I think it is very likely a scam, so I will ignore it, but just thought I would mention it on here.:)

I don't think this email is connected to comping.
I also received this but not to my comping email account. It came to an email account I used several years ago when I made a purchase from Tripp. I am wondering if Tripp have been hacked and email addresses stolen from their records.
I have sent them an email to the address I had from my order which was https://www.tripp.co.uk@tripp.co.uk
  • Tripp have confirmed to me what we all suspected... Extract from them below
It is just a generic phishing e-mail sent to e-mail addresses from our database. They have had no access to your order history or personal details. The e-mail has not been sent from ourselves.

We do not have access to any payment details, these are held by an external payment system Sage Pay.

Our IT department have confirmed that no other details have been compromised.

If you could please delete the e-mail and refrain from clicking on the links provided.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this, please be assured that this is currently being investigated.
  • Yes a scam, they emailed me and told me!
Not fussed just won a Tescos Hamper :T
