Using CC in U.S.A AMEX or Santander

Hi, I'm hoping someone will be able to help...

I'll be going on holiday to the states fairly soon and I'm wondering which card will work out more cost effective to use.

I have a BA AMEX standard (not platinum) and I just looked and the rate I get right now on the USD is 1.5401 after a 2.99% fee is added from an initial rate of 1.586.

I never use the Santander Zero card anymore I did call up to cancel it and the reason I didn't was that it is a card which is no longer issued and it is fee free when used abroad, however I wonder if to account for this they would use a much less attractive exchange rate. If anyone can shed any light on this I'd be grateful.

It's also worth noting that I'm inclined to think that I may be better off with the AMEX because I also get BA Avios points for every £ I spend on it.
