  • If you want to save a few quid get a pair of these and take them to a back street tyre place to get them fitted, they usually have massive part worn signs up.

Don't buy Westlake or your next thread will be "How do I get my car out of a ditch?".
  • BTW are you sure that's the right size for a Mark IV Golf? I thought they would be 225/45.

Goodyear and Westlake both have 8 letters and are black, must be same tyre.

pretty sure it comes from the same factory too.

first number is width, second number is the height of the treadwall as a percentage of the first number.

If you do you math you can fit all kids of sizes, mk4 golf is not a powerful car, idiots put on 225 as it just creates more drag. Realistically I would get 195 for the golf but the minimum width is 205 for 17" wheels.

with 205/50/r17 my speedo overreads by just 1mph at 50 [compared to gps], so it's a good size.

Do you work in the tyre industry, or have relatives that do?
Should you be sharing this top secret information on a public forum?

I understand what the fancy signs on the sidewalls mean, thanks.

I misread your earlier post and thought you were using 205/40 hence the confusion. Ignore the link above as that also goes to 205/40.

I'm serious about the Westlake though, don't do it, spend the extra few quid as it's the only contact your car has to the road.
