Sony HT-XT1 & Sky HD Issues

Hi all
I am hoping someone out there has a Sony HT-XT1 soundbase and Sky+ HD box and can assist me?
I have hooked up the HT-XT1 soundbase directly into the Sky box by HDMI and another HDMI from soundbase to TV as per instructions from Sony but I am experiencing a slight sound issue.
When I press the Sky TV Guide the sound from the mini screen on the menu cuts out for about 5 seconds and then returns. Then if I press "back up" or return to the programme I was watching the sound is there for a split second and then cuts out for 5 seconds and then returns again.
This is the only issue I am having but is annoying. I have spoken to Sky and Sony and neither can assist and I cant seem to find any reports of this online. So I am hoping someone can assist me in resolving this issue.
Many thanks

Tell us the sound settings from your Sky box...0

The initial menu cut out has been solved by a selection in the Sky picture menu.
Now the only issue is when you first turn on the soundbase there is no sound for about 5 seconds (although there is a picture) then the sound begins and the whole unit is fine until you next need to turn the soundbase on again.
Could it be the HDMI cable? I am using the ones supplied with Sky HD boxes, I had a spare one. Is it a high speed type that would be supplied with a Sky box.

I have tried several things. Changing a setting in the Sky picture settings resolved the sky tv guide sound cut out. But now I am left with the problem when you first turn on the soundbase there is no sound for the first 5 seconds, although there is a picture. When the sound starts there is then no issues until you turn the soundbase/tv off and then back on again. The cycle starts over, with no sound for the first 5 seconds.
Could this be that the HDMI being used between TV and soundbase is not a high speed type (I am using a spare one that I had from an old Sky HD box). Are these high speed types?
My current set up is now as follows –
Panasonic TV HDMI 1 to Sky HD box with Sky HDMI cable
Panasonic TV HDMI 2 (ARC) to Soundbase with a Sky HDMI cable
I was connecting the Sky box directly into the soundbase’s HDMI in, but this was leading to a whole new issue that once the soundbase was turned on and automatically remembered its last input was hdmi 1 it would then a few seconds later turn itself to the tv input leading to a loss of sound until you pressed the button on the remote to get it back to the HDMI 1 input.
Everything I have tried has left me with some sound cutting out but the way I have it seems the best of a bad situation.0 -
Hi dantheman2010, see if this thread helps https://www.avforums.com/threads/ht-xt1-and-sky-hd-poor-sound-level.1890314/
Official Sony video for Initial Set Up for the Sony® Sound Bar System, this may not be your system but may help you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52DDy9CIm-40 -
I don't see anything wrong with it taking 5 secs to start up, I don't think there's any way round that problem.
You should have SkyHD-HDMI-Soundbar, Soundbar-HDMI-TV (ARC) so your setup is right.
I don't know about the soundbar, but for the Sky box, you might want to consider, in the sound menu, trying between 'DOLBY D' and 'STEREO' in case it makes a difference. You should really be on Dolby D (Dolby Digital 5.1) but it can cause a little delay when changing channel or coming back from adverts.
An alternative setup to your current one, if you have an optical INPUT on the soundbar, is to connect SkyHD-HDMI-TV (ARC) and run an optical digital cable from the Sky box into the soundbar. You'll need to change the sound settings on the Sky box to output the sound to optical I think (a new option in the menu) and I guess you'll need to change the input on the soundbar too.0
