Anyone extended the range of their home wifi range using Devolo kit?

Has anyone extended the range of their home wifi network using the Devolo kit and in particular using in its clone setting in conjunction with a Virgin media superhub. We live in a tall old house and the wifi will not currently reach the attic bedroom.
Looking at buying a Devolo dLan 500 wifi hub. Apparently, in clone mode, you just have to plug the "wifi" plug into a socket near your router, let it configure itself, (it will pick up your existing wifi id and password). Then take it upstairs and plug it into a socket in the remote location and it will let you log in remotely to your home network from the new location.
Sounds too good to be true. Anyone tried it?

Hello, we have two Devolo units, to extend a Plusnet router. It works very well. Now we can have internet in our summerhouse, which is about 30 meters down the garden.0

I have the Devolo 650 triples and they work brilliantly. It's as easy as you describe to set up, just plug and play. Mine is also linked to a Virgin super hub.
I've tried them in every room in the house, up and downstairs, without any failures.
However, they connect to the router via Ethernet not WiFi.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I live in an old manor house where the walls a 3 to 4 foot thick solid stone and use a mixture of Devolo powerline and wireless to give me access to my BT fibre BB all over the house.
Pre fibre I had the Devolo 200s but once I got Infinity I upgraded to the 500s

OK I bought a Devolo DLAN 500 starter pack and had a go at setting up. I worked it out eventually but only after I realised that to configure the local device you want to use over the Devolo wifi, you need to go into the Settings/Wifi menu on the smart device you want it to work with and find the network and enter the Devolo password.
I only use the Data option on my phone, not the wifi, and when I travel I take a notebook and configure the wifi to the local password via the wifi option on the bottom of the screen. So I had not previously used the wifi option on a tablet. I assumed once you set up the Devolo devices, its software picked up your local wifi network password and logged you into the home network automatically.
Duh. Anyway once I twigged how it worked it was all quite straightforward and is now working nicely.0
