RCI holiday/timeshare is it a lot of hassle or can I just enjoy the holiday?

Hi
Has anyone used RCI for holidays abroad and never taken up any timeshare selling just used it for the holiday, or is it not that easy, I'm thinking of trying Tenerife next year I have offered a great price, nit sure if it comes with lots of hassle.
Any advice would be great

It may depend on where you go.
We have a timeshare that we swap through RCI, I have booked weeks for family and they have never been hassled or asked about a timeshare, neither have we except once at check-in they asked if we were interested in more weeks - i said no and that was that.
Maybe do a search for the specific hotel/apartments you are considering?

Be very careful, it may not be RCI that is offering the 'holiday' but a timeshare company which is using the RCI connection to promote the fact you can swop weeks, at a price, for a different property. Tenerife is full of timeshare sharks, if the deal mentions anything about you must have a minimum income, both over 21 and spend 90 minutes enjoying an informative talk, then the hard sell is still alive and kicking and I would avoid it.0

Thank you I'm sure the lady that called me mentioned crown and rci its in Tenerife Hollywood mirage Beverley hills heights and Beverley hills club the lady said we would not be hassled to buy just shown around the resort to know what's there etc we were thinking of just going enjoying it with no intention of buying and ignoring the hard

Thank you
I will revise what I said, i thought you meant you were purchasing a week through RCI itself.
Sounds like you are getting something through a company selling timeshares, nothing to do with RCI. RCI are just a company who deal with exchanges.
I suspect it might well be a hard sell.

Thank you
I have no intentions of buying a week but it's sounds good and the hotels sound lovely.0 -
Everybody who buys said they had no intention of buying, you will get the hard sell for hours on end but if you are convinced you can say no and put up with the hassle, just accept the fact that 'you have been warned'0

The Hollywood Mirage complex is at the top of the hill in Los Christianos. Its nice though.
The reason they do these promotional weeks is because it works. Aprox 1 in 6 tours signs and buys. The sales pitch is polished and they know how to flick the right switches to make people buy.
I have done 3 of these holidays, 2 with Club La Costa. If you are sure you have the resolve to resist the mind games and dont mind spending half a day, then you can a nice cheap week.0 -

We have done this, it is very hard sell, but make a note of the time they say you must attend (usually 90 mins) and after that time you are free to leave.
Don't take any forms of payment with you..........Enjoy your cheap holiday in the sun x0 -
Just had a week at Club la Costa 'free' since we bought windows as a front door from Weatherseal. Only condition was that we had to attend a 'presentation.'
Five and a half hours hard sell by accomplished professionals.
Avoid it like the plague.
ps. We didn't buy.0
