We change pretty often now using the comparison sites - im not sure how much we save as prices till recently have been upward - however we have settled with n power & the dd is reduced to £60 on lekky & 75 on gas (4 bed detached kids in during holidays etc)

Having just received £60 end of year switching bounus & with N power maintaining that their cost has & will fall Utilita show up as saving £ 161/year for switching to Utilita what do the gurus think?

Thanks as ever to all
Chris - who has just received Nat wests offer of £ 700 refund on charges this am thanks to this site's inhabitants -

We were with Utilita until about a year ago or so when they decided they weren't supplying gas or electric anymore. Just before this announcement they cunningly hit everyone for a one off charge (can't remember exactly how much say £40 - £60) saying they needed to do this due to energy prices rising so quickly. They then promptly ceased supplying Gas/elec and all customers were transferred to EDF. No refund was ever given so they basically pulled a fast one. I would never deal with them again, they are cowboys.

I delved through my last two years bills, converted them to current Powergen prices, then compared them to Utilita prices.
It looked like I would save over £200 by switching to Utilita.
Then the bad news - my gas comes through a pipe laid by a sub-contractor of Swalec. Utilita say not interested!
    How's that........

Utilita imposed a £40 surcharge on me and other customers in 2006. The regulator originally said it may be unlawful but because it could have put utilita out of business it decided to let utilita deal with each complaint. The regulator suggests I go to small claims court. Has anyone been to the small claims court to recover the Utilita recharge? How did you get on?
