Pigeons keep blocking my gutters

Hi,
I live in a top floor flat and have a constant blocked gutter up above my bedroom window due to the 50 or so pigeons that seem to live on there
The gutter is totally blocked (again) and the water pours down over the pipe edge and splashes against my front door entrance and on to the landing like a mini waterfall when it rains.
I complained to the council 6 months ago, and they replied saying they only clear the gutters on this estate every 3 years as it is bulk "batch" job. Well, they cleaned them and now it's totally blocked up again, and typically, only above my flat where they sit pooping all day.
What can I do? I don't have a ladder and I'm not going to wait another 2 1/2 years for the estate guttering maintenance

Pay a window cleaner/handyman to clean your gutters?

Buy an air pistol ?
Seriously though, the above is probably the simplest option - most window cleaners will happily clean out gutters for a small fee. I know our local guy always offers it as an "optional extra" when we book him to do the windows.0 -
Thanks.
a) the windows in the flat rotate 180 degrees so no need for window cleaners
b) no window cleaner would dare come to work on this estate anyway
Anyone else?0 -
I need to make some DIY gutter scraper so I can try and lean out the top windows and blindly poke said DIY device along gutter! Should be fun, assuming I can reach out, upwards and backwards then successfully get said device in the groove!
Any suggestions? Cheaper the better0 -

Very cheap and simple is to cut the bottom off an old baked bean can, cut it in half so you've got a "half-moon" shape, nail this to the end of a stick. You can then drag this along the inside of the gutter.
I must say, though, the thought of you hanging out of a top-floor window whilst trying to do this is somewhat worrying. Please please please be very careful !! And make sure you've got someone watching you, just in case. I'd almost be tempted to advise that you don't try it, all it takes is one slip and there could be a very nasty outcome .....0 -
Ha ha! Many thanks :T

Surely it can't be that bad. Where you live Bagdad ?
I am sure a w/c would do it as a one off obviously not as cheap as a regularly customer, if not a handyman service try local facebook pages or ask aroundGeneral_query wrote: »Thanks.
