Lost credit/store card from 3 years ago. How do I cancel to clean up credit rating?

Hi all.
I opened a store card (although I’m starting to think it may have been a credit card) at Miss Selfridge roughly 3 years ago.
I used it once on the day I signed up to do my shopping and get a discount and when the bill came I paid it off straight away.
I’ve not heard anything since then regarding the card and it’s only now that I’ve remembered it and want to cancel it.
I’m trying to ensure my credit rating is up to scratch so that I can get a mortgage. I’ve never been in any debt before and have no overdraft or loans so I think my rating should be pretty clean (maybe non-existent) aside from this.
Problem is I can’t find the card anywhere to type the card number in on the website. The Miss Selfridge card is owned by a company called New Day.
Last winter I opened a card with Debenhams and that is also owned by New Day and I’m going to be ringing them this week to cancel too.
But I’m guessing I won’t be able to clear off the Miss Selfridge one at the same time since it’s a completely different shop.
Anyone know if there’s a way to resolve this issue and cancel the card without the details? Will having the Miss Selfridge account affect my credit rating even if I’m not using it?

Phone NewDay and cancel them both. They should be able to find you without the card number.0

A store card with zero balance can do no harm to your credit rating.I’m trying to ensure my credit rating is up to scratch so that I can get a mortgage. On the contrary, it can improve it if you don't have any other history of borrowing.
That said, if you lost the card, you really have either to cancel it or to get a replacement one.0 -
Thanks for your replies, grumbler and zx81. I've now done a credit check with Equifax and all is looking good score-wise.
But turns out I actually have more cards than I thought - three with Newday and one with Ikano, which I think is New Look.
Looks like I've got my work cut out for me with lots of time spent on the phone

if your aim is to improve your credit record for a mortgage then you should start to use 1 or 2 credit cards regularly and pay in full each month : that will show you are responsible using credit. Thanks for your replies, grumbler and zx81.
