Hedgehog Gutter Brushes

Has anyone used these? Are they any good in reality?

Look great.. I have a real issue with leaves predominantly at the rear of my property (gutters have been in place less than 2 months and with autumn are already clogged)..

Any advice is appreciated

Got them and so have the neighbours on both sides .

Well worth the money if you live near or under trees !

They put them on a new build estate near me a few years back and loads are hanging out or rucked up. Just generally look a mess. I'd be tempted to use a standard gutter guard instead.

Gutters are part of a surface water drainage system. Thay should be free flowing and unobstructed. The falls are minimal, the sizes can be inadequate in times of storm, and they do silt up over time. They are frequently flimsy, with minimal support and fixings.

Gutters do not require extra weight to be added to them, nor items to block their flow, nor items to aid a silt build up.

Why encourage problems by fitting hedgehogs?

    They're not real hedgehogs, Furts.

    A prickly problem.
  • Ok so if they are tied down correctly it should be an issue is the consensus?

I have 120mm aluminium gutters so if I went for the 100mm hedgehogs and strapped them in they should do the job and not come out of their hatches..

Or do you think I should buy the 120mm as leaves may get inbetween if the hedgehog is receded in the gutter?

    Hung up my suit!
I thought about fitting them but I have lots of moss and leaves that come down from the roof so I think in corners it would cause an issue as debris would still gather, so I prefer periodically to get up a ladder and clear the rubbish out.

Chunks of moss rolling down is my big problem. I'm thinking of getting the standard guards and reaching up with a long brush to clear the moss off at intervals if it stays on the guards. At least it won't be in the gutter.
  • Thanks all went for the hedgehog which is quite expensive but I couldnt find a knock off 125mm equivalent. Will let you know how I get on..
